Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Why does it make sense to pay out of pocket?
Because most people already are. The average health plan deductible in Vermont is over $4,000 and the average total out-of-pocket expense is over $7,000. You pay the deductible amount even before insurance starts paying anything (despite your high premiums). Only 1 out of 5 people meet their yearly deductible. You are already paying out of pocket for long wait times. We can provide much more timely service than the big box guys!

Our prices are transparent and reasonable because we don't have to pay someone to deal with confusing insurance company rules. Check out comparable costs from Vermont hospitals at this link.
Can I get reimbursed from my medical insurance company?
Maybe: We will provide you with documentation for our professional services which you can submit to your insurance company. Depending on your insurance, you may or may not be reimbursed. The cost of our services may be accepted for your deductible contributions for the year.
Can I get money from Medicare or Medicaid?
No: Federal programs are exempt for reimbursement for our professional services either to you or us. However, services provided by the Green Mountain Surgery Center, and testing at any health facility can be covered by your Medicare but not by Medicaid. You would pay out of pocket for the professional services we provide.
Can I use my HSA, FSA or HRA account to pay?
Yes; your Health Savings Account (HSA), Flexible Spending Account (FSA), and Health Retirement Account (HRA) are pre-tax dollars that can be used to pay for services we provide. We also offer interest-free financing for 6 months through Care Credit.
Can I use my health insurance to pay the facility fee at the surgery center ?
Yes; you can use your insurance (including Medicare but not Medicaid) to pay the facility charges at Green Mountain Surgery Center.
